Inspired By Nature

CastleRockThe natural world is the primary inspiration for Sue Powell's landscape designs. Sue believes that gardens reflect our intrinsic connection with both the natural world and our ancestral heritage.

Sue draws from the shapes, forms, and assemblages that have delighted her in natural settings and uses these to create some of the basic elements of her designs in combination with each client's unique style choices. Design elements inspired by nature can include pathways, focal points, height variations, spring flowers, fall color, shade patterns, water elements, and the use of cobbles and boulders.

Sustainable

ArboretumThe word "sustainable" is used in many contexts in our world today. Sustainable landscapes are those that use practices and products to encourage a natural cycle of soil fertility, conserve the use of irrigation water, and create healthy ecosystems with food webs that manage the proliferation of pests. Sue's designs and consultation reports provide clients with the best sustainable methods of landscape installation and maintenance.

Drought Tolerant

Sue's landscape designs specialize in the use of drought tolerant and native plants. She also recommends soil management, landscape maintenance, and irrigation methods that reduce the amount of irrigation water that is needed to keep the landscape flourishing.
